Dr Helen Read
Dr Helen Read is a Consultant Psychiatrist with 30 years’ experience, formerly Lead for ADHD at a major London teaching trust. She specialises in neurodiversity, integrating psychiatry, psychotherapy, and biological care, and has a particular interest in women’s health, hormonal sensitivity, and connective tissue patterns in ADHD. She has observed that many women first present for ADHD diagnosis around perimenopause, when hormonal shifts unmask lifelong executive function difficulties and emotional dysregulation. Drawing on her own lived experience, she combines evidence-based medication strategies, hormonal support, and trauma-informed approaches to create practical, personalised treatment plans. She leads ADHD Consultancy, a London-based private practice specialising in ADHD and related conditions.
